Overview: The Philippines-China On Island Disputes & Socio-Cultural Ethics

Last night I was watching videos on Youtube regarding the events that could take place in case China has decided to use force against the Philippines. There were so many ignorant comments from Chinese people of mainland China and HK. Some people said things that were actually uncalled for and had no relevance whatsoever to the issue on Scarborough Shoal.

On the Filipino - Chinese Values Contrast...

This is when you will really realize if a person is a person of sense or a person of bluff. Some opinions were correct about the Philippines. Like for instance, that Filipinos are poor and that most of us don't have money in the bank. This issue will go down to the values and the preferences of each individual. Some people might opt to save for the rainy days and some just don't as they have some other responsibilities that they need to prioritize. Hence no money in the bank. If Filipinos are truly poor then how come SM malls in the country are owned by the Chinese business tycoon Henry Sy? Why is that the the Chinese lives in a government allocated town of the Philippines called China Town? Why are our investors Chinese or of Chinese descent? This is because the Philippines in reality is  a huge basket of money. A blatant proof is people in the RP loves to shop no matter what level of income they belong to they will always find a way to shop. Filipinos are not much of  a business minded individuals they love to splurge on beautiful things. Of course this is not generally true as it is not generally true that all Chinese are wild dogs. Some Chinese are also good people aside from those who love to crush cat heads or drown dogs in a pond of garbage or leave a little girl dying in the street. The value for life in the modern Chinsese society is depressingly low. Nonetheless, like most Asians, Chinese people are also very family oriented but of course family oriented means they have to marry their own kind and certainly think about the financial status of both families before the marriage.

Filipinos on the other hand has the freedom to choose to marry the woman or man of their liking. Yes, there are oppositions on the family if they don't have the same status but as they always say--'Love Prevails'. And so for Filipinos the issue of annulment comes when a marriage is not successful. The children will suffer because their parents are fighting or are legally separated and most of the time without support from the father. Then the issue of poverty comes in because the children wasn't able to go to school and have a jumpstart to better their lives. The teenagers are likely to get married early or get pregnant before marriage. You can say that the Filipino people are more emotional than the Chinese and it gets the better of them most of the time.

Meanwhile, the Chinese thinks about money before anything else. Chinese people are probably very workaholic because in my opinion, they are not smart enough (I wonder how Kong Zi feels today) compared to the Filipino counterpart who are proven to be loved by employers inside or outside their country because of their proven hospitability and smarts. Filipinos are not just smart they are very hardworking. Albeit, the problem of the Filipinos is that they go gaga when it comes love. When you go abroad and meet Filipinos--usually they are females, the males are usually engineers and seamen/seafarers, which is not as many as the count of the female counterpart in terms of population as an immigrant or expat. Most of the women are working as Domestic Helpers or cleaners or the better one--part timers. When you ask them about their life's story you will certainly hear a Maalaala Mo Kaya-like story. The mothers work abroad because their husbands are parasites. Of course these types of people come from the same background as other poor Filipinos based in their home country who are also jobless or if with a job, is not earning as much as the family needs.

The Chinese on this part are better. They think of providing for the family even without love. Hence, they are good providers. As long as they do the wishes of their parents and relatives. Of course there love marriages as well. The biggest problem of China is that they are over populated and thus poverty is inevitable while the Filipinos are poor because of the corruption of its government. The problem of China in corruption is more rampant than in the Philippines, that is 100% sure. But the focus of the problem in Chinese society would be the overflowing population, refugees, POVERTY and injustice because as I have said population is their biggest problem: Corruption is less highlighted. On the contrary, the Philippines poverty is highlighted because the population is less than 1% compared to that of China. It is always expected that if a country has small population and have tons of resources then that country is capable of fending for its people's needs. However, this is not one of the realities in the Philippines due to corrupt politicians.

China is hated by most countries in the world because of their values and lack of virtue especially in animal welfare. Well, welfare is not the right word. They do not have that! Chinese people tend to not care about their own people as well. It's like when you are dropped in China you need to take part on The Hunger Games--each for his own and survival of the fittest. The Chinese people would even let a child die just to avoid any criminal liabilities. They eat all kinds of animals, even fetus or aborted babies and are pointed as one of the major buyers of the Rhino Horn which is greatly condemned by the International Community. Even though the world knows that Rhino horn is not a medicine they continue to urge poachers to supply the demand. This is just one of those Chinese BS OR ancient medicine BS. Taichi, Karate, Shaolin or whatever are all good but when it comes to this they will slaughter everything on Earth for their tradition of BS primitive science.

In the Philippines, Kapampangans eat dogs and cats, maybe not all but they certainly do. There are dog fightings as a form of gambling in some underground societies. Of course they're all illegal as Jai Alai. Poor people in Manila and in some places in the north and south of Manila tend to eat stray animals because they cannot afford to buy a decent meal for their family. See for Filipinos it's a need but for Chinese it's for their twisted beliefs. The citizens of China who are really poor and are homeless tend to come visit the Philippines and never leave like what Koreans do. They soon become part of the Chinese community in Binondo called the 'China Town'. That is how good hearted Filipinos are. They take responsibility for the refugees of their neighboring country and give them their own place. The Philippine government should open it's eyes wider because their own people are called squatters in their own country where as Chinese refugees are given their own place properly named and identified to be their own community! A China Town. Heck, there should be a Filipino Town too! With it no other race will be able to live there as it is for the less fortunate Filipinos who are considered refugees or squatters on their own country! The Philippines has welcomed China for a very long time. Even before the Spaniards named it after their king--King Philip. They traded with the Filipinos since time immemorial and have enjoyed the privileges of staying in Philippine soil.

On the Scarborough, Recto Bank & Spratleys Islands...

Now that they have discovered a great potential of secured income from the Philippine islands: Scarborough Shoal, Recto Bank, and Spratleys Islands, they want to claim and take control of those islands. It was said in the news and in some forums, I watched last night, that the Philippines during the Arroyo adminstration had a bilateral agreement to explore these islands in dispute with China. This was when Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was advocating close ties with China. Now that the new president NoyNoy Aquino does not want anything to do with the previous plans of the former president, I suppose, is retaliating the control of China for oil and gas exploration. The former President was 'selling' the oil&gas rich islands in exchange for a higher credit rate and infrastructures promised by Chinese Government. When NoyNoy took charge his plans were different. He is pro good-government and transparent-policy oriented. The dispute started when Chinese vessels harassed the Philippine Army in our own islands. China wants to control the oil and gas exploration of the Philippine Islands as a strategic location and to stregnthen their economy--that is the main goal. To note that the islands of Scarborough and Spratleys are within the West Philippine Sea which is also called South China Sea. China thinks they can own everything in the South China Sea, in this case then they should also claim the Philippines since it is in South China Sea! The whole of the Philippines are located in the center in between South China Sea and the South East waters of the Pacific Ocean! This is not the first time that Chinese vessels harassed the Philippine vessels especially the Fishermen who are of course fishing in our own territorial waters & are supposed to be bound by our own jurisdiction! It is said in the local news of ABS-CBN that China does not want war, "they ONLY want to SHARE the Philippines' natural resources". In this sentence I don't know if it is only I who is having a big question mark popping up or is this statement just wrong? To me it delivers a message of 'selfishness' and that "we are powerful now so will claim whatever we want, it is a strategic location as much as an abundant supply of oil and gas, so we want it! And you do not have a choice!" Another message it delivers is: "China Is A Bully".

The distance between Spratleys and China is way beyond their designated territory even according to ancient maps and the signed agreement of "Actual Philippine EEZ - UNCLOS III - December 10, 1982" and the "Actual China EEZ - UNCLOS III - December 10, 1982". This agreement is under oath in the United Nations Convention On The Law Of The Sea or UNCLOS III.

China - Scarborough - 857.45km
China - Spratleys - 895.59km

RP - Scarborough - 219.89km
RP - Spratleys - 232.91km

Does China expect the Philippines to yield her own islands for their benefit? Isn't this preposterous and just shameful for China to act like an alligator? Their claims over Bajo de Masinloc/Scarborough Shoal, Spratleys & Recto Bank are a violation of the International Treaty of all nations. They should be punished and Philippines should not compromise at all.  The Philippines must keep her islands without compromise as a sovereign state. There are some bits of pieces of Scarborough that belongs to OR falls in between the ASEAN area of 9 countries including Vietnam BUT is NOT OWNED by any country in South east Asia. These tiny bits of islands can be explored by all 9 countries BUT what is the RP's will be retained by the RP. In 2011 up to now when the Balikatan Exercise began in Subic the Chinese government are infuriated thinking it is our strategy to counter their efforts with the help of USA. USA is not siding on anyone in terms of the land and water territory but will not tolerate any armed conflict in resolving the issue. One fatal blow from China to the Philippines will make US retaliate and could possibly ignite the 3rd World War. Recently, a few days ago, China had the same joint exercise with Russia to show off their power that they can take on anybody. Is this a coincidence? That shouldn't even be a question. It is an intentional action from both China and Russia being two of the largest Communist states in the world. I say, communism is the worst ideology ever invented by man. They control the people like robots and make them think that it is for their own good and emphasises that "equality" is the key to a peaceful society. That means if you are a farmer who wants to become a doctor you are going against the laws of the state. You can never be anything but what you already are. If you are born in the bloodline of leaders then you are bound to follow the same path. Going against it is fatal. You cannot dance any other dance except the dances that the government tells you to dance. You cannot sing any other songs except what your leader tells you to sing. You can only eat food you are told to eat and you can only stay in hotels designated for your 'class'. Communism--a 'classless' society is indeed without class system!

The Philippines will probably consider US to help us in our oil and gas exploration in partnership venture to strengthen both alliace and economy of the Philippines and the now deteriorating USA than yield to China!

The US-Philippines alliance has been long enjoyed by both parties since 114 years ago. US paved the way for the American Educational System in the the RP and they taught the Filipinos their language unlike the Spanish who divided RP to rule them, the US unified the Philippines. Ever since the US-Philippines alliance has been strong.
